ladies and gentlemen

Ukrainian Orthodox priest of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, prison chaplain and social worker, Father Dmitry Krasnobaev, Odessa, Ukraine, humbly asks you to give him a few minutes of your time and read this letter.

I develop, finance and implement spiritual, social and charitable projects aimed at the correction, social rehabilitation and adaptation of people deprived of their liberty, and then deprived of their liberty.

Conditions of detention in our country are at a very low level; The penitentiary system today is not able to organize educational and corrective work with criminals, and also cannot provide them with adequate adaptation after release.
Thus, many prisoners in Ukraine, returning from places of deprivation of liberty, have neither documents, nor jobs, nor money, nor housing, nor clear prospects - hence the increase in crime, and a very difficult crime situation in Ukraine.

I work as a priest in the Odessa SIZO (Odessa strict regime colony 21, SIZO), the South strict regime colony 51, the AIDS hospital, I visit the children's department of the Odessa Regional TB Dispensary, the Odessa Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital No. 1. 1 and other institutions.

On January 13, 2012, I founded the Prison Mission, the Center for Social Rehabilitation and Adaptation and was appointed representative of the Odessa diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate for spiritual education in prisons. On July 15, 2015, I created the Hodegetria Charitable Foundation to raise funds to finance the Mission.

During the work of the Mission and with funds raised on social networks, two chapels were built in the Odessa Correctional Colony No. 21, the construction of which has just begun; in the South 51st strict regime colony, the construction of a temple was started, but then suspended due to lack of funds.
The municipal authorities allocated a semi-basement for the center, but it requires major repairs and is not spacious enough for the full-fledged work of the center - it is necessary to build another one, where psychologists, lawyers, social workers will be present, and which can accommodate up to a hundred people who need help. social rehabilitation.
The roof of the current office space is leaking, windows need to be replaced, utility bills have not been paid, so there are debts.

I would be very grateful for any help.

Prisoners (about 2,000 people) are in need of basic necessities, personal hygiene products, clothing and food. The prison hospital department needs an ultrasound machine, a cardiograph and blood sampling tubes.
For the construction and overhaul of the Adaptation Center, money, building materials and tools are needed.
I plan to create a music studio for young people: there is a room, but I need equipment and instruments.
We also need a minibus or bus with a wheelchair lift (there is no such service for people with disabilities in Odessa), and a dual-purpose vehicle for collecting and delivering humanitarian supplies to hospitals, prisons, checkpoints and the territorial defense of Odessa.
In conditions of war, we will be happy with any car.

Documents of the charitable organization and photos are attached.
